I have some of my mother&#39;s kitchen treasures from the 50&#39;s that miraculously survived our house fire in 1962. It was a middle of the night fire from a coal oil furnace that woke my father up from smoke wafting through the vents. He looked into the kitchen where he saw a bright glow coming from the kitchen wall on fire. He and mother ran to get my sister and me then ran back to try and save what they could. Items close to a door was saved in particular all of our baby books and family photos!! My Dad kept them in a cabinet behind the front door &quot;in case of a fire&quot;. A FEW kitchen items were saved and I truly treasure them to this day.<br />I have rediscovered my love of auctions...been taking items to sell and having a ball!! I don&#39;t bake/cook very often so I don&#39;t use one.<br /><br />The sifting I&#39;ve been doing has lightened our house a great deal. We put tons of stuff on Craigs List and sold it all. You should have seen my 8 month old grandbaby with her super duper lollipop yesterday. if she could talk she would tell you that grandma gives the best presents. She sure had a good time with it. It was a wedding gift when I married in 1964! I&#39;ve used it all these years and it&#39;s still the only sifter I have. I&#39;ve spent the whole day reorganizing and decluttering my sewing room.
