1 step back, 2 steps forward...yes but why to me...lol

I would like to blame it on a lot of things...too many tasks to complete, unrealistic goals..did I just say that ? lol But I have fallen into that "1 step back, 2 steps forward" trap....

"Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance".....I have grown up with all these quotes for greater good.... Simple tasks lately have set me back....I spent a whole day completing a very simple sewing task...results terrible...( in the garbage both of those projects went) Not even selvageABLE... I worked on some homework of turning a photo into an AVATAR image...you know from the movie, blue characters...mine came out ...well I don't even know the colour...but it was not blue...
This task is a 6 hour project, took me over 35 hours....I sew wanted to go to my old pc and old programs, could have done it in 4 hours....but nooooooooo I am learning new software, new MAC and I can't fall back on what is easy for me..... SEW the #@!* with it...( for today anyway)

Sew I am taking a break from homework today, just to seek out some of this fabric...
I am known as a 3 colour girl...Love working with three colours...I seemed to have fallen into that without consciously thinking about it...

As soon as I saw this collection called LIME from Timeless Treasures ( collection 2009) I went green with envy...I LOVE THIS, now to find similar ones in these colours, lime, white and black...
I want to make this...Does anyone know where I can find it...I have searched and came up empty...?
Who has something similar? HELP, I will even trade fat quarter bundles of whatever you are looking for.........I want to make a lime, black and white quilt.... see that second print at the top...this colour
I want to match perfectly...white and blacks will be easy enough to find....but this green...I want it ...
( and yes I am whining...lol)  I think 2 yds total would work for me..the rest I could find in my own stash....

Everything has not been all sour....last night as I was
preparing supper, I grabbed some rustic potatoes
from the pantry and out came this HEART POTATO..
I just did not have the heart to peel it..
My husband who has a keen sense of humour
said let's put it away and wait for it to sprout
and we can plant it in the spring in our vegetable
garden and grow some Heart potatoes...

How I love that man!

Now I feel sew much better....got that off my chest...
I am going to play hookie today... working on a table
topper for our April TABLE TOPPER BLOG HOP...
will give updates this week...
and I am going to find me some lime green fabric...
or I will just weep lol

ps. YES YES YES ..we are still moving forward on the
TABLE TOPPER BLOG HOP
FOR April 16th..details to follow this week...
Stay tuned

YOU, a project gone astray? In the trash? Oh, Samm that is so not like you.

If you can't find a match for that green fabric let me know and I will search around here. Did you look on Etsy or ebay?

Hugs

Don't we all have those days sometime. Even knowing this doesn't make us feel any better, though. Praying you have a better day at least for the rest of the week. Praying I have a good day too. It usually takes me about 10 times as long, as the average person, to do anything. And yes it is frustrating sometimes.

I have some fabric that is "limish". Black and White and Limish...Belle Fluer Designed by Karen Combs for Avlyn. Look it up on line to see if it is the right green...May be a little yellower than you are looking for. I think my LQS still has some of it too. let me know?

You are also probably familiar with the old platitude, "All work and no play makes for a dull Jack (and Mdm Samm)! You definitely need a breather-day to reinvigorate yourself!! And your fabrics? Scrumptious! Have fun PLAYING!! :)

When things go awry - and a mess of awry - it so is a time for a break and play time. Play some hookey!

Enjoy your day of fun! You definitely sound like a break is in need! Isn't it amazing how different the window/mac worlds are! Like speaking trying to speak a second language without any kind of tutorial book. Go have fun!

So, I happen to have 7 FQ's left from a FQ bundle I purchased of that line to finish out a quilt and a project or two. I've been holding it because it's so cool and fresh, but I haven't touched it in forever and my house isn't lime green. I've got the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th prints in FQ, 3 other FQs from that line in lime. 2 are the heart vine print (black on lime and lime on white). I think the line was actually called Kiwi and it's definitely by timeless treasures. I bought it in 2010, so I doubt you can find it except in someone's stash. I used it for this quilt http://dmdezigns.com/2010/07/11/a-great-quilt-for-a-wonderful-girl/.

Anyway, I can probably part with this especially considering how much you share with the rest of us.

I made a black/white and lime string quilt once upon a time for a friend. She still loves it. See it here:

I just used plain lime for the strips with everything else black and white.

Love those colors you picked! I can't wait to see what you make with them. I'm sure the day off to be crafty and creative will do you much good. Are you still going to do the blog hop for the Ackfield Wire in April or has that idea been canceled?

When I switched back to a Mac after many years on a PC, I felt that I was having to learn a new foreign language. It was if I had been plunged into another country and had to learn this new language immediately. Must be a bit like a child who is adopted by parents who speak a different language. Little by little, I came to love Mac again. There is so much to know these days and I still have my PC laptop for emergencies with my embroidery software. I have Windows and Mac on my iMac. That makes me bilingual!

I was in the same fix. Last fall I was walking through Wal-Mart and I saw a fabric that was so pretty.
Lime and black on cream. They only had 2 1/2 yards and I bought it at $7
per yard which for Wal-Mart gave me the impression it was better material. This spring, they had two bolts 10 yds per bolt, the same print on cream and the same print on black.
Then they had a chambray which was $8.97 in the lime green and then a black 2" stripe and cream strip each striped again with green and black. Bought it all! Made curtains and now am making a quilt, made the dust ruffle out of the stripe. I hope to finish it sooooon. My sewing, bedroom is painted a softer lime and it's almost all shades of an apple green instead of lime. I was like you i- it just looked so springy and fresh and clean. I've been looking for you as well and no luck! Will keep looking!

Please don't cry, Madame Samm. I know someone will find the fabric fior you, and a day away from homework will really help. It is always good to vent, so thanks for sharing your frustration...we have all been there! . And today is already a better day, right? Are you smiling now?

I don't know what to comment on the potato or the lime...lol. That's quite a day you've had. You're going to be more of a master than you already are on the computer. Good for you! Keep at it. I have lime with white scissors :).

Those failed projects serve a purpose...to remind us that we are mere humans. And to kick our creative butt into gear.

I just found some black white and lime fabrics at a recent quilt show and am keeping them in mind for a quilt too. (Not the same ones you're looking for - sorry). Good luck with your search.

Whine all you want to, when you need to. I'm sure it made you feel better. Hopefully things got better for you after.

I love the idea of the black and lime quilt and I can't wait to see what you end up creating.

Have a great week!

Hope your day got better and you enjoyed a little 'play' time :) I made a quilt from these fabrics some time ago and have some left that you would be most welcome to have. I have 1/2 yard fabric 2, 1 yard of fabric 5 and 1/2 yard of fabric 6 and a yard from the same line that has butterflies on it.
