Day 2 of a New Year...sifting through some drawers..

Now before you think I am going to do daily postings....
NAHHHHHH that is not going to work for me...lol

I was sifting through some drawers, ridding some old
stock when I came across this.....

I was  sew excited to show you this triple sifter
that was given to be by my Nanny...it is from the early 50's
I still use it today...What is unique about this one...which I
have come to realize - they are few in circulation... this one
I turn with the yellow handle....
It sifts flour 3 x ...which is why my shortbread tastes
sew fine....... My Nanny loved buttercream colors too lol

Think of the moments frozen in time that have sifted through
this unique old fashioned relic.....

Do any of you have any of these are similar
they were made by a company called Androck...?
Now I also had this one, which I gave to my
oldest daughter, she loves it...and won't give it back....

I wanted to share this because I had a request over the holidays
for a piece of BARN WOOD....and within days one large
piece with some hand hammered iron for a brace
was attached...I was super excited and thanks to Evelyn
I now have a perfect prop for photos...My husband
cut it in 3 and anchored the back, and now
I have something super unique, ONE OF A KIND
background piece....

Not a very feminine post, or anything quilty...
but it is ME, the new ME...lol
Not really....

Just something to share what was going on with my morning...
And yours, how is yours going?
Sifting through anything?

Off to town to run some errands..

YOU is important to ME!

Ah Samm, you are sew welcome. That precious sifter reminds me of my aunts farm kitchen from when I was a child. Such good memories are sew often attached to "old relics". Mmm, I can almost taste the shortbread...

Good morning Mme Samm. The sifter looked so familiar, checked my cupboard....and yes I have the very same sifter only mine has a red handle and turning knob.... same butter yellow canister and same 3 flowers. I have a hand beater in aqua....2 oldies that I luv. It is cold and crisp outside with only a dusting of snow, the winds are calm, not like yesterday.
Have a wonderful day 2 of 2012...xop

They are so cute! Your Nanny's sifter is adorable :) Is it really bad that I rarely sift?! ;) If I had something so cute I might be bothered!

Happy New Year Samm! I found that exact sifter on ebay and almost bought it, but no. I'm working on a little tutorial for next week. Yikes, next week? Really?

Cute little sifter...I guess it would be considered vintage?! (Of course, I guess *I* would be considered vintage, too!) I've been sifting through my photos from 2011...same line of thinking, just a different area! :)

What an adorable sifter! Mine is just a plain ole metal one...not even vintage. Pout. Oh, well, it works, and that is what counts! LOL
Looking forward to seeing your new photo prop!

I have never seen a triple sifter but yes I have the other one too. Love the barnwood, what a great friend and hubby to provide with a new spot for pictures!

Hi Samm, I have a sifter that is very like that one only darker in color. It was a wedding gift when I married in 1964! I've used it all these years and it's still the only sifter I have. I've spent the whole day reorganizing and decluttering my sewing room. I have a little more to do but not much. And I feel so much better! Now if I can just keep it like that. :) blessings, marlene

Love seeing these sifters!! I have my mom's (still packed 'cause I don't bake)

My first reaction was that my decluttering would take a much larger sifter! LOL

HEALTHY and Happy New Year to All.

Shalom and Laughter and Love - all in abundance.

Hi Samm! Love the sifters; the yellow one reminds me of my grandmother who was an excellent baker and always sifted :-)

I have an old sifter too but mine is a little different. I grew up with sifters like these and I wouldn't want to use a new fangled one. I actually get to have a kid free day for me today and I'm thinking that after I get Miss Sunshine off to daycare, I'm going to occupy my sewing room.

Have a great day. You is important to me too.

Cool in Florida today! It's been in the 80's but now the 50's - but sunny! Sifting through stuff down here that I bought on sale and never used! lol Going to give it to the Home Owners Assoc. annual "garage" sale!! I have an old sifter at home - was my Grandma's (Nonnie!). I also have a battery operated one! lol Love that ironing board! Just may talk the hubby into making one for down here!

We are in Alabama with my family still sifting through Christmas times. You should have seen my 8 month old grandbaby with her super duper lollipop yesterday. if she could talk she would tell you that grandma gives the best presents. She sure had a good time with it. Of course, we had to strip her down to the diaper to get all of the sticky off. lol

My mother in law gave her mothers sifter to me to use. It is made different but still has many a story to tell about the cakes and biscuits it helped to make. :)

The old saying comes to mind...if it works, don't fix it! I think that must apply to your sifter. Happy sifting, Annie

My grandma used one of those too....they are so cool. I don't bake/cook very often so I don't use one.

The sifting I've been doing has lightened our house a great deal. We put tons of stuff on Craigs List and sold it all. Oh I love an uncluttered house!

Smiles,
Kelly

Oh I am in love with your buttercream sifter. I have some of my mother's kitchen treasures from the 50's that miraculously survived our house fire in 1962. It was a middle of the night fire from a coal oil furnace that woke my father up from smoke wafting through the vents. He looked into the kitchen where he saw a bright glow coming from the kitchen wall on fire. He and mother ran to get my sister and me then ran back to try and save what they could. Items close to a door was saved in particular all of our baby books and family photos!! My Dad kept them in a cabinet behind the front door "in case of a fire". A FEW kitchen items were saved and I truly treasure them to this day.
I have rediscovered my love of auctions...been taking items to sell and having a ball!! I don't make much but they are items I was going to give away so making a profit is simply a by product of the fun of the auction process!!
Blessings

Great story about the sifters...I definitely remember bringing one to our marriage from Mom's kitchen, but it rusted out on me! Love, love, love the new banner
