I am such a GIRL....
What can I say...I was inspired ....
YES I made this strapless gown complete with bow..
and pleats..can you see them? lol
- out of 2 types of
chicken wire...( yesterday) in the midst
of one of the largest campaigns ever...
-in the midst of organizing a Ghastlie blog hop...
Which had me thinking GHOST..go figure...
SEW...... I got myself some wire cutters..
(every good woman should have a pair)2 different materials.
okay sew my materials for this project happen to be
galvanized wire mesh
but heh...it is still material....
I chose a close knit one and a larger one..
The large mesh I chose for the bodice...
and the fine mesh one for the full skirt..
which is pleated no less to make it full..
I sewed it all together using steel threads....
NO Presencia didn't have any for me lol
I used Zirlon...a coated steel thread ...
No needle needed just a pair of pliers to pull the thread through.
I just called my local hardware store
and I am off to pick up some more materials..
after I get this up....I am GHOST inspired now....
When was the last time you read
about someone heading to the HARDWARE store
to pick up DRESS Materials...?
mmm thought sew...
I plan on making a few extra this weekend..
( ohhh I did get a bo-bo yesterday) sew that may slow
me down just a wee bit...

OMG! This is just too cool!!! What a fabulous idea! Will there be an entire ghost party going on in your yard soon?
Oh Miss Samm,
Is that a ghost (gulp)? (Hi Samm, well Prudence is running upstairs and will probably do a nose dive under her bed. (o: Ah, it should be a quiet day.)
Hugs
Prudence
It's Katie, you know your neighbor. I just saw this and I WANT this one. Make another because I am coming over to take it home with me. Imagine having Samm as your neighbor, she cooks, bakes, sews, quilts and now does lawn ornaments? I HATE her. hahahaha xx Katie
Incredible! I am shivering at the thought of your ghost. She is out in broad daylight! How scary!
Oh my Word....This is too cool, but I have a question?? Is everything okay? All of this blogging work hasn't affected anything upstairs right??
Didn't think so...just checking. :)
I'm sure this is Ghastlie inspired and now I'm wondering if this is a Halloween lawn project in the making....hmmmm...interesting thought to ponder!
You are the coolest lady in blogland that I know of. Keep up the great work and thank you for keepping all of us sewer/quilters/crafters inspired.
Jen
I think I'm speechless.(I'm over it) Where do you find the extra hours in the day? You have a wonderfully creative, if a little twisted, mind. I love everything you do. Please keep up the great work.
Now just how fun and creative is that? With Halloween coming up next month, you could create an entire graveyard come alive theme!! :-)
There is no stopping you! lol I now seriously consider just what you will come up with for halloween!
You sound like a Project Runway contestant Madame! You'd win that too!
wow what are you going to come up with next! What a cute idea.. your creativity has no limits!
I LOVE it! You are so inspirational! I just might have to try making one for my yard!
If I were your neighbor (Katie), I'd sneak over there while you're gone to the local hardware store, and I'd take ghost Madame home with me. She's remain well hidden for a couple of weeks, and then voila, out she would come. I'd deny taking her from your yard and tell you that I was so inspired by your creation, I decided to make one of my own. See....aren't you glad you have Katie for a neightbor and not me??? Oh, it's simply adorable.
Mme. Samm, you are such a hoot! I love it! And you are doing quite a spectacular job organizing "Project Ghastlie", my dear!
That is so unique, creative and wonderful!
Very cool, but I do want to know how you ended up with extra hours in your day. LOL.
Oh and about the hardware store - dress connection, there is a contest every year for prom attire constructed entirely of duct tape which can be purchased at the hardware store. (Seriously, if you have never heard of this do a google search. You will be amazed!)
You have some of the greatest ideas, thanks for sharing your pictures with us. What fun to decorate for Halloween! Hope you keep the boo-boo's to a minimum, it is hard to sew with sore fingers.
You are one creative dame! I know it will be amazing. You should have some soft light on it, especially on Halloween night. Can't wait for finished pictures...at night, too!

That is just too cool, but as I was reading I was thinking about the boo boo potential it would present to me. Sorry about the boo boo, although I can't imagine it will slow you down at all! Can't wait for the next pic installment.
What a wonderful idea. My ghosts are just running around the yard naked. This would make them a little more socially acceptable. lol. You come up with the most unique ideas.
This is a vision of ghostly loviness. Only one boo-boo would be amazing while working with wire and cutters and sharp edges. Blissful inspiration...
I agree with Mary; Project Runway is just up your alley. I love the bow. Looks like it is blowing in the breeze. Maybe a few headstones, and some soft lighting. So very fun!!! Take care of the boo boo and keep your eyes open for Katie!
Oh this is just Precious, I Love it!! Hardware Store? Oh yes, Madame I have been making slip covers for my LR furniture out of Drop Cloths, and painting walls too. Finally giving my Beach Cottage Home a Beach Interior! I can see a Mesh Ghost though bringing a friend or two and hanging out in the Front yard for Hubby's Halloween Birthday Party!!
Can't wait to see the rest of your Guest!!
Huggs, Nancy
THAT is fantastic!!!
hugz
ok, I have officially seen it all now! you made a dress from chicken wire??? and a BOW?? How the heck did you tie a bow with chicken wire?? Is there anything you can't do?..now's there's a question..I think not! Love this Ghostie lady Samm,..my daughter Jamie Lee will absolutely want me to make this..no doubts..she will want a whole yard of ghostly beings! Great idea, by far, one of the most creative yard deco I have seen for Halloween!and I thought black pumpkins ( spray painted) with fall leaves carved would be a new creative idea...what was I thinking? lol xoxox Christel
Now I've seen everything. I can die now.
What a great idea for Halloween - such fun!
She looks like a bride! Now she needs a groom. :). Just sayin'. Blessings, Marlene
Do you know how to relax? I think this is just the most. And I too think she looks like a bride and needs a groom. Wire will bite you - wear gloves.
OMG !! Every winter I suround my old rose bush with chicken wire to keep the bunnies from eating it. This year--? Maybe--
Laughing so hard....are you also going to visit the pumpkin patch? Off with her head, maybe?
I do love the wired bow of the bodice. Very chic!
I believe she needs a Mister!!! Love her, can't wait for the Ghastlie projects!
OMG!!! (big smiles)
Is there a 'ghost' of a chance that you would notice if I were to be caught with the same gown in my neighborhood? How completely fun and wonderful!
Wow, Madame Samm...this is amazing. Your creativity constantly amazes me. Great job!!!
Very cute and impressive. I can't wait to see what else you come up with.
You totally amaze me I would love to get inside your brain sometime. What a creative imaginative woman you are and I for one admire you so much. I would just love to come and see your place I bet it is neat. Blessings Sandra
Oh my gosh that's just totally cool!!
I'm also cracking up a the comment your neighbor, Katie, made! Too funny!
xx, shell
Brilliant!
just love this would look cool with small lights but very cool
OOoooh that looks so cool - you could have a ball as in gala of dancers across your lawn, of course you would also need music, but that might take you away from quilter far too long...
There was a challenge on another blog that used the design seeds colour palettes - very cool, and wonderful for planning.
Thanks for sharing.
Love the ghost!!! I have my own wire cutters as well as a lot of other tools and love walking through the hardware store for inspiration.
I look to you to always put a smile on my face with your unique projects. Love this new one.
How neat! Can't wait to see what else you come up with!
I love it!!!
You are such a busy person, I love your ghostly cotillion lady. You simply MUST use her as the backdrop for a giveaway! That just goes to show - creative minds (and hands) are never idle!!
Linda
You need to stay away from the RED BULL drinks....that is all I have to say about that....love your wire dress...What next?
LOL...Samm, you do amaze many. Great idea and looks really cool. I agree that lighting it up at night may be pretty cool..When winter hits pour some water over her to freeze it and lights inside at night would make for a great yard decoration also. Very cool.
That's one of the coolest things I've ever saw in my whole life.
How cute! Love it...a well dressed ghost!
Adorable and oh so creative! I agree with Marlene...she either needs a date or a groom complete with tux and the works. I mean, it's only time, right? And we ALL know you have tons of that. Right...not. Seriously, she really does look like a ghost floating across your garden in her beautiful dress. I just love her!
There has to be a Madame Samm clone out there living in your backyard...no way can ONE woman do so much in the same 24 hrs. I get yet can only get perhaps 1/16th completed????...You are on the edge, my Dear!
Love you though!
Blessings
Gmama Jane
Solar lights ... eery green ones planted around said ghost, ethereal picture ops :) Along with missing groom, who obviously needs to be laying at her blessed feet, wouldn't a arched-back whiskered ringbearer be appropriate ... LOL LOL ... I have so gotta get on your healthy diet, just to keep up with reading all you manage to do in a day!! Hugs to you :)
Sew inspired. Love your ghost!
Oh, that is so clever! You have such skills and imagination!!! Yeah, that chicken wire can be brutal sometimes, hope your owie is not too severe!
That is awesome Samm! Love it. You are so creative my dear!
Awesome dress! I wonder if the hardware store has glow-in-the-dark spray paint for an eerie evening look?!?
Totally absolutely BRILLIANT !!! Just can't imagine what wonderful inspiration you will come up with for Halloween. Maybe a whole family of these lovelies.
Patti xxx
Eerie in such a good way. Way to go! Be careful.
OK... I would do it differently... I would just come to your front door and get on my knees and beg you to let me take Ghost Madame home with me. I can beg pretty good. Just ask my sewing machine dealer. I never buy a new machine without he gives me a brand new pair of Ginghers. I think I have 4 pair now. ha! :)
Oh this is just awesome. Hi Madame Samm it is so nice to be back. I was at a retreat in Estes Park Colorado and we were not able to even make phone calls for 5 whole days.....now that is out in the caves of time. But had lots of fun and glad to be home....
Just passing through and thought id say hello. Richard from Amish Stories.
You are having sew much fun here! I LOVE your new Halloween look on the blog here.....
Just wanted to let you know that I love the new look of your blog. I absolutely love halloween and decorate the outside of our house every year. Can I borrow the ghost dress idea? Brilliant! Can't wait for the ghastlies reveal either.
What a creative idea and not as scary as some displays. She looks like she is checking out your garden like a protective spirit.
