I seem to get the strangest emails on weekends..
possibly because many think I 'm not peeking in...
( I do of course ) lol
And all of them anonymously....
I laugh at those because if they come into my inbox
I know exactly who they are wink...
Hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllo....Ü
I'm a Wired Woman, which means I have been
on computers before many of you even knew
the term P.C. ( personal computer)
I was working on main frames, dos, programming...
before Microsoft changed our world...
I am a mentor to a few proteges in technology.
SEW why I bring this up...is I had this long email
from I KNOW HER...and she went on Blah Blah Blah..
about all what I am doing over at Sew We Quilt
and how she had not won anything
and couldn't see that happening either
because there were sew many postings...
( she has no idea I get 7-19,000 daily)
Like to add here...I spend much more time
with those who write lovely comments to me btw
"YOU" I certainly notice and YOU keep me inspired.

Anyway I kept thinking about BLAH BLAH BLAH
and I came up with this...I love to take every negative
and change it to a positive....
Sew my new MOTTO is
Bringing LIFE AND HOPE
to the quilting industry..!
( I made this graphic above to remind me..
printed it out, now on my wall in my
powder room)
AND speaking of HOPE this is what I am hoping
to BRING MORE LIFE to this week..and complete
it..I have done all the quilting in the center...
for baby M. ..now I will do up
some hand embroidery along the side panels...
( that is a pin you see on the top right...I pin using quilting pins
and sit with no hoop just hand quilt with no frame...seems to work
best for me)
![]() |
| this is back of the quilt...I wanted to keep it soft..sew I did not add any batting just this super soft no pill micro fibre |
I hand quilt everything ...and I only use
Presencia Threads FINCA #8
to do this...it just glides through layers of fabric like a breeze..
for Baby M's quilt I used this nice soft pink variegated...
and did block quilting...in the ditch...
My secret project...of course it is a Ghastlie..
but what is it...? well you won't know till the
end of October during our Ghastlie Blog HOP.
Mark your calendars..it begins Oct 24th -
Sew here we are a new week and a few goals...
HOW will you BRING LIFE AND HOPE
into your life or lives this week.?

61 Your COMMENTS here, uplift me.:
Well, that's easy. A few months ago I joined our Church's "Mission Quilters", they make quilts for those in need. Anyway, after a few visits I watched them struggle with cutting squares & strips.
Accuquilt Go popped into my head so I bought one for them. They say giving is as exciting as receiving? YES. Each time me meet they marvel at what I did for them. And keep thanking me, over and over. And really, it's no big deal, it's a gift from the heart.
Tomorrow we meet and I hope we get some quilting done, all they want to do is cut squares. They are so precious. Some are too elderly to use the cutter but they watch and are just amazed. (o:
Giving is so rewarding.
Hugs, have a wonderful week.
Love this post!! I too have been in this business a loooong time! I was emailing when it was call bitnet and there was no internet! Assembler anyone??
What do I do for "live and hope"? A few years ago I started my own non profit called "KnitSew4Cure", I have since renamed it to "KnitSew4Hope" as I wanted to encompass other cancer victims and charities such as Hospice, Fairy Godmother's etc. but Susan G. Komen still remains near and dear to my heart, as we have another friend who is at the end of her life and will lose her battle with cancer. What's my motto?
"In celebrating our love of knitting and sewing, we honor those that have lost their battle to cancer and provide hope for those still fighting."
So far I've been able to donate $1,200 to Susan G. Komen. You can check it out at knitsew4hope.shutterfly.com
It isn't much in the overall scheme of things but it reminds me that whatever complaints I have, there are others that have it worse than I.
I tried to start a blog but there just isn't enough time in the day. But maybe it's because I'm not ready for the "blah, blah, blah's" of the world!
Have a great day!! (So glad that Apple and Microsoft came into the world!!)
What I want to know is....How did we ever manage without the internet!!?!?!?!?! What did we do?? You know the time before mobile phones (what!! I can hear young ones saying) as my Mother use to say "you don't know you are born" LOL I shall bring BLAH into my life the same as usual, thankful for every day and try my best to treat others as I would like them to treat me. Hugs x
Love that quilt.. I bet it is ALMOST as cute as that precious baby :)
I loved this post. Thank you!! I know I have often gotten down by Anonymous quotes left on what have you but I love the idea of turning them around to a positive. Thanks for the reminder to keep on the sunny side :)
And I love the baby quilt!! Seriously, pink and brown has got to be my favorite color combo :)
Isn't amazing at what some people will complain about. I don't remember ever reading that everyone was a guaranteed winner.
I started on computers over 35 years ago for an ag company. Entered all of the information on punch cards to run through a gigantic computer in the super cooled room. Boy have things changed!
I also do my hand quilting with a hoop or frame. Just rest it my lap and go from there.
You do wonderful work and everyone should be happy to have such a wonderful forum. Thank you for all you do.
Love your new motto and Baby M's quilt :)
Personally, I think we're all winners over at Sew We Quilt with all the inspiration and tutorials to be found there! And of course, it's nice to dream about what you'd do with one of the lovely sponsor prizes - we all have a chance :)
I take my hat off to those of you who give so much life and hope to others. I try to do my best for the people around me and will be musing on how I can do more.
Did you offer her any cheese for her whine?? I love that your blog is positive and uplifting, no matter what the topic! Love the sweet baby quilt. If you can't lose gracefully, don't enter. Period. :)
I was around when computers were those big mechanical things that fit inside rooms! And I was just thinking the other day; why is it that, when I leave my cell at home or if my laptop goes wacky, I feel like I've lost an appendage?
I am part of a quilting guild and we do a lot of compassion quilts. I have done work for (and got my guild to do some!) ConKerr Cancer making pillow cases for kids. I also co-lead a Girl Scout troop so we have worked with a girls' home, a nursing home, and home for children and wives in abusive relationships. Wow, I didn't realize how active I am with this type of thing until I put it in writing. I just like helping.
YOU help bring me hope! Thank you :)
Love the baby quilt. Remind me never to mess with your e-mail...ROFL :)
At my house everyone loves to play cards and board games. Before we ever begin...I always say...."if you are not prepared to loose then you are not prepared to play." That stopped a lot of little kids getting very fussy. We just say congratulations to the winner and keep moving on. Guess it might be good for folks who are channeling their inner child too!
Smiles,
Kelly
Wow Mama Devlin - what a great gift you are to those who lost and are still battling cancer! I'm a 25 year breast cancer survivor and continue to raise what I can. Your post is a difficult one to follow as I feel you and Madame Samm are bringing a lot of Life and Hope!! Keep up the great work.
I am sorry to hear that you have to put up with some sour grapes people. I work(ed) in a call centre as a service rep. The meanies can bring your day down but it makes the nice ones twice as good!Happy Quilting and remember this whole wantobequilter campaign is changing peoples lives. Its brought a whole lot of happiness to mine at least..prize or no prize :)
I think I know a few Blah, Blah, Blahs myself. They are often friends with Yadda, yadda, yaddas. I am hoping to bring life to a quilt that has been in my mind for a few months now. The goal is to have it done by the end of the month. I already have my Ghastlie projects thought out and cannot wait to bring those to life, too.
It's wonderful that you're able to turn a negative into a positive! It always astounds me when people think they can just say whatever comes into their minds without a care for how it might make others feel.
You do beautiful hand quilting! I LOVE to hand quilt, but had to stop when I started having problems with tendonitis in my fingers. I also just laid in in my lap. It was great for riding in the car and taking on trips!
I guess I just feel honored to know all of you out in bloggy land with your kind, generous hearts. Reading about things you do makes me reach out to others in need. I never did that before I started reading blogs. Even now, with my limited quilting experience, I am making charity quilts, and I try to instil the love of quilting to co-workers (got one "hooked" and working on two more). Fortunately (or unfortunately) I'm one of those people that don't know one end of the computer from the other, and get completely lost if something doesn't work the way it's supposed to, so I truly appreciate people like you and mamadevlin (one of the commenters above). God bless people like you, because people like me would go crazy without people like you.
Oh... I'm so excited! I got my Ghastly fabric today and it is the Ghastliest color of pea green soup! It looks GAWD awful and has so much potential. Let the GHASTLY fun begin. Sew on sweet bloggers!
Hugs,
Mary
I, for one, am so glad we have internet, like everyone I suppose, on a bad day I might complain about technology..phone ringing, emails, doorbell ringing..stupid printer won't print right.. computer is acting up..ect ect, but the internet has brought me SEW many wonderful things I would have never known of! All of the truly wonderful people I have met here at bloglandia..my doll collectors..other artists, quilters, seamstress' miracle workers..(Madame Samm)..teehee.. and oh yes..the BLAH BLAH BLAHS of it all! How rude!!! I won, yes, I won big!!! But, as stated before, there was not a guarantee of winning if you joined in this campaign..not a prize per se'..but the information we are gaining alone it so valuable. All the wonderful tutorials posted..wow those are priceless for people like me who really do not know how to quilt! Sew as you see, through this blog, and through SewWeQuilt..you have given me much hope..for the Blahs...not only is there still time for you to win..there is HOPE TOO!!! how is that said?.."it aint over till it's over"..hahah Have a great day xoxo Christel
Just another thought... What was it dear Abraham Lincoln said about pleasing people??? No matter how much we volunteer for the greater good, there will always be the "But I's" Get it? "But I never win, But it will take too much time, But I..blah, blah, blah... Luckily we FIDO= Forget it, Drive on!
Madame Samm, darling, your blog is a work of the heart. I can't imagine putting in the time you do to get people into the joy of quilting. There will always be "But I's" Who cares! Just FIDO
Love you,
Mary
I love reading your thoughts on here as they are ALWAYS so uplifting and positive!
Love your "Heaven Sent" baby quilt :-)
Blessings
Darlene
It just amazes me that their are people that expect so much. Why don't they just appreciate the campaign in the spirit that it is intended...to introduce wantobes to quilting? Winning would be a nice bonus but no where did I read that it was guaranteed. I for one have enjoyed the campaign with all its information and inspiration. Thanks Samm!
You have changed blah blah blah for me forever. Great graphic. Hmmm, I will put bring Life & Hope on the 'to do' list. I made a birthday cake :). Your stitching is lovely.
Great post. Blah, blah, blah's are everywhere, and I loved the comment "give her some cheese with her whine"..funny, made me smiles.
What am I doing to bring Life and Hope to Quilting? Today I've been making fusible stars & hearts appliques to be used on QOV blocks.
Thanks.
Madame Samm, you are such a wonderful 'positive force' I am at a complete loss as to why there must be such sourgrapes out there. If one thinks they are a loser....they are. Don't they know what a 'cookie' is? The crumbs never truly get 'swept under the carpet'.. So happy you are who you are! Hope you have a wonderful rest of the day!
Garder regardant Madame. Vous sont aimés par beaucoup.
*Sigh* To know you get e-mails like that really bother me Madame Samm. People like that are the type that think they deserve everything just because and they are entitled just because. I can't stand sore losers. It is so childish. You put so much time and work into the campaign. The least they could say is Thank you or Great Job or some other words of gratitude. But no they would rather whine about why they haven't won...seriously??
Ugh! Would it be unclassy for me to suggest to print those e-mails and put them in the cat's litter box so your cat has something to go potty on? That is probably the best purpose those e-mails can serve right now.
Love your quilt! You will have to let me know your preferred brand of batting. You haven't shared that secret with us. ;)
Ms. Jen Ghastlie
Leave it to me to say that your commode room is the perfect spot for you to hang your newly framed Blah Blah Blah print for you to reminisce about while doing your business ... truly where that Blah Blah Blah belongs!! LOL I too am grateful for the positive feedback and sharing you provide and truly hope to continue reading and sharing among those that enjoy it! Thank you MaDear! As for gifting from my heart ... today, I'm gifting the cold my daughters gave me with anyone who comes in close contact, so I Hope I soon recover! :) Hugs to each of you!!
Well....sorry if I found humor in your Ms. Blah blah Blah....
Love your quilt...looking good!!
Well, you can't please everybody. But 99.99 % is pretty good Samm. Hugs.
Miss BlahBlahBlah should learn that the "richest" people in the world don't have the best of everything. They make the best of everything they have.
Gonna take the day off tomorrow, and just love my grandbabe.
I HOPE Ms. Blah Blah Blah learns that GIVING will bring so much more LIFE into her world. WHO cares if we win anything in the Wantobe Quilters Campaign...something tangible I mean...
the friendships I have made among the bloggers by way of Sew We Quilt have enriched my life far beyond a new sewing machine, the latest sewing notion, or Hottest new Iron (although I am still pining away for my little ORANGE Creamsicle of an IRON...just saying) but I digress.
I have just fed the 5,000 for a friend's funeral wake which certainly puts things in perspective for me.
BTW, Madame, I'm wanting to send my post late tonight if possible. I had to wait till everyone left my house and got off my computer to finish my guest post.
Everyone, I will be guest blogger on Thursday so PLEASE come by and support me. I'm just a little ol blogger in this big ol ocean of quilters and can't possibly compare to their expertise. I make a wonderful Cheerleader though for all of you REAL Quilters with REAL Talent!!
Blessings
Mrs. Ghastlie Gmama Jane or is it Mrs. Gmama Jane Ghastlie???
Oh never mind,
Blah Blah Blah Blah................
Such a wonderful way to make a negative a positive!! Baby M and her Mama are just going to love your soft, pretty and cozy quilt.
Hmm, what Ghasterlied thing are you making now....
Love your positive outlook on anonymous blah, blahs. Also love the 'whine and cheese' comment and will use it occasionally instead of my usual "Do you need a bottle for your whine?".
Lovely quilt for Baby M and though I won't be in the Ghastlie project I'll follow it's progress :D.
Cheers,
Robyn
Sorry you have had to deal with blah, blah, blahs! Hopefully you get at least 100 times more of the good ones, since you more than deserve it! AND BTW, I LOVE that baby quilt and the hand-quilted design. I am machine quilting my first machine-quilted quilt and I have to admit that I love hand-quilting much more!! :) But each to their own...
Some folks just aren't happy unless they are miserable. hee, hee, hee.
Love this sweet quilt Samm. Love that you hand quilt. :)
xx, shell
Life is too short to get upset about not winning something in a random drawing. I, for one, visit Stash Manicure and Sew I Quilt because I love the ideas, tutorials, funny comments, and just plain fun that I find there. OOOOOHHHHHHH and then you show me that cute, cute, cute, baby quilt again.
Blah, blah, blah, does not deserve to win if he/she is just going to whine. What happened to gratitude? Thank you for all that you do Madame Samm.
Thanks Samm, I have been into computers for quite a while also. I was very resistant to Windows. LOL. Of course now I use Windows daily but I also have Linux, iOS and android OS. Anonymous? Well not really. ha ha.
You know, I haven't won a thing on your blog either, but I have certainly enjoyed the ride! I have learned a few things and got a kick out of seeing others win.
Sometimes all you have to do is smile at someone to bring life and hope. (But sometimes a good meal is needed to sustain that life and hope too.)
Thanks for the ride, it has been fun so far and I am looking forward to more fun.
I agree that you can't please everyone so don't let it get you down. I remember when I first got on the internet and it was $10.95 a month for 4 hours.....no graphics but I loved all the information available. Now I complain sometimes because I am on satellite but it is hard to remember what it was like without the internet and wonderful sharing people like you! The baby quilt you are making really looks beautiful with your hand quilting. Enjoy!
Let her just blah blah blah. Like you can do something about all those entries???
Sometimes I quilt for others and sometimes just to make me smile. There are many ways to bring life and hope. It all starts with a smile.
Well Samm I know that you know what that DELETE button is for....you know you are better than that sas talk...As for me I will continue to make my charity quilts for the abused womans shelter. If you have any extra fabrics left over you know where to send them. It is a shame that these shelters are even necessary when it is much better to love than it is to hate and even easier... and that woman has problems because she has not won. She needs a lesson in humilty. I am calm now not going to say anything more on it. Have a wonderful evening.
Mrs Sharon Ghastlie
Hmm, Whilst I love to comment, as you know well :) I would never dream of sending anyone an e-mail ranting, how rude! Today, I'm hoping, really hoping that my water will finally be sorted today. yesterday there was no life in those pipes, today there is too much life in the pipes that their generosity into my cupboards has me needing a lot of hope today :) So I'm working on a lot of hope for a little life in my quilting activities for some respite :)
I think your quilt is beautiful and the time and effort you are putting into the quilting and embroidery will make it all the more special.
Lovely post Samm.I adore the quilt the colors are so adorable. As far as all the people who add comments to win on your giveaways I say the more the merrier.
Enjoy your day!
Well said!!!
Wow! I agree with you! Life is too short for all the BLAH, BLAH's. You can't eliminate them but turning it around on them, by doing something positive with it, takes all the venom out and they lose their negative power!!!!! Way to go Madame Samm!
That's a shame "anonymous" doesn't see the real gift of this campaign. The introduction of other talented bloggers and new products to go and check out. My cell phone message for a long time has been BLAH BLAH BLAH, you know what to do. lol! When I worked for a local fabric store, a lot of customers left footprints on my heart, a few others, not so. Makes you wonder what is going on in their lift to make them so ungrateful, rude, etc.
Love the baby quilt. Great job!
What an interesting and timely "musing" you've brought forward today. I say Cheers to you for turning it positive! I refer to interesting and timely for life and hope in that I recently realised my sewing ventures were aimed in the wrong direction and becoming burdensome. So I've turned it all around and am now headed in a more rewarding direction for everyone around me.
Little M's quilt is coming along beautifully!
I love that BLAH acronym! Boy, will it help on some days. Thanks.
ROFL...I remember helping with registration in college (my dad was the guy in the cold computer room with the huge, whirring, machine) and handing out those rectangular cards with the holes punched in 'em! Then my first paying job after getting married was data entry on a new, improved, so-small-you-could-fit-it-in-a-small-office computer!
I wish I could give Ms. Blah Blah a piece of my mind for being so ridiculous. Oh, wait, I better not, I don't have much left at this stage of the game!
I hope you will make that graphic available to us that work to bring life and hope - I make blankies for the wee babes at the crisis pregnancy center. We all love you for your heart gifts, Samm. As I have said before, you're the bestest!
Hey girlie, I thought of you today. I was at the quilt shop and bought some fabric that said "blah blah blah". That's all...just those words. I cracked up and had to buy some. what will I do with it? No clue. Maybe just look at it and think of you! Have a great day! HUGS
Your "BLAH" is brilliant! I've seen too many bloggers really hurt by nasty people who have nothing better to do than complain. When I comment on a blog with the hope of winning, it's just that...hope. However, I don't comment on blogs I don't regularly follow - I don't think that's fair (unless it's something like Moda's Country Fair blog-along...which I suspect is to encourage quilters to get to know their designers). I have won a few times and I was over the moon each time. My life wouldn't have ended if I didn't win because I read blogs for inspiration and for the wonderful camaraderie of like-minded people. Can't wait to see the Ghastlie quilt. I'm planning to make pillowcases for my Bee and some friends at work.
Blah, Blah, and maybe. Yes, Blah, blah. No, no, yes, no. You're quite right.
Thanks.
Beckie
Had to chuckle reading this, Madame Samm. As always, you've got a great take on things. In my household, we use the saying, "Whiners are weiners." ;o) Makes us laugh and helps put life in perspective in a silly, fun way.
Love the baby quilt you're working on. I tried the Presencia threads for myself last evening. OH,MY! Stitches like a dream. I'm in love. :o)
The Hope part of the week is quilting on a baby quilt and hoping all the best for him!
I plan to substain Life by finishing my canning! Pears, Pear jam and Fruit relish and maybe Corn relish, my shelves are looking good!
I love your attitude! You always make me smile! That's why I check in daily.
We Southerners call those whiners "trifling" - that's a polite term for "getoverit and go do something productive"
Hooray for you & your smiles!!!! I'm grateful for the inspiration & positivity you have brought into my life, so who cares about the material things (no pun intended, but now that it's there - haha!).
Love your take on BLAH! I dropped off a fleece blankie at the Fire Dept and they were thrilled to get it - hopefully, it will bring some small comfort to a little girl who's been injured or left homeless. If it brought great comfort, that'd be even better! :)
I say love much, laugh often and post the blah blah blahs in the commode room. Madame Samm, you rock!
Ahhhh...what can I say that hasn't already been said? Those people apparently never had anyone to tell them, "You is kind, you is smart, you is important". :) Kathleen

Hello! Thanks for your comment on my drawing. :) Yes, mostly blue colored pencil, but also some blue added in adobe photoshop :)
also, all of your blogs are great! :)
I, too, used computers WAY back in the '70s! I used a word processor (think it was Word Star?) BEFORE there was a manual! Dot commands! Then I quit (Argonne National Lab) when I had baby #1, never went back to ANL and never regretted being a full-time Mommy!! I did ONE hand-quilting project (Dear Jane quilt) and that' IT!! So many seams by fingers still hurt!! My theme song is "Take it to the quilter".... Blah, blah, blah.... lol lol lol
Momma Mia! You get a lot of emails! :o)
I love your hand quilting. Isn't it so relaxing to do? I too hand quilt with out a frame or hoop, it just works so much easier for me. And it is especially nice to snuggle under on those cold days, while quilting. :o) I am sure looking forward to a few of those!
That is sorta funny about the person leaving an anonymous note on your blog, knowing your background. My husband is a security i.t. guy and it always sparks interesting conversations. :o)
Have a super day!
Trish
Only you could come up with such a wonderful motto out of a negative comment - that's why I admire you so much Lady Samm! I don't know why people think it's okay to complain when they don't win...but some folks would complain about the color of water. I love your baby quilt and you know that the few times that I hand quilt I don't use a hoop either. :) We're in south Kansas sitting out a storm in McDonalds using their WiFi...praying the tornado passes us by. Decided a camper wasn't the best place to be when the winds were high and hail was coming! blessings, marlene
